I took this photograph in 2008. This flower was in a floral arrangement given to Laura. I positioned the arrangement on a stand outdoors and used natural light to photograph the flower.

Camera: Nikon D3; Lens: Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 ED; Exposure Time: 1/50; F-stop: 36.0; ISO Speed: 200; Focal Length: 60mm.

I took this photograph yesterday. This is, in actuality, not a wall: It is an assemblage, created from stacked bricks. By definition, an assemblage is an artistic process in which a three-dimensional artistic composition is made from putting together found objects. I did not create this. I simply encountered it. I was drawn by the varied colors and textures and the contrast of light and shadow. I find this image at once relaxing and enthralling.

Camera: Nikon D3; Lens: Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF-S VR IF-ED; Exposure Time: 1/160; F-stop: 14.0; ISO Speed: 200; Focal Length: 105mm.

I took this photograph in 2001. The salsa was made by roasting the peppers, onions, cilantro, celery, garlic, and tomatoes on a grill. The ingredients were run through a food processor, mixed together, and placed into jars for storage and a Glad container for immediate use. This was easily the finest salsa I have ever eaten.

Camera: Nikon D1; Lens: Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 ED; Exposure Time: 1/60; F-stop: 4.8; ISO Speed: 200; Focal Length: 42mm.
