I have been a professional photographer since 1971. I have alway preferred Nikon equipment. Early in my career, I used a Nikon F with waist-level finder, a Nikon F2s Photomic, and an array of Nikkor lenses. During that period, I specialized in portrait, sport, event, and advertising photography. I was the lead vocalist/guitarist for a rock group. This allowed me to enjoy a good deal of access at concerts.
While shooting film, I maintained a full darkroom and produced color slides, black and white negatives, black and white prints, and color prints. When I migrated to digital, I discontinued using the darkroom and miss it only during moments of extreme, uncontrollable nostalgia.
In 1998, I migrated to digital. I used Kodak and Canon digital cameras while I awaited the release of the Nikon D1 DSLR. I used the D1 for eight years–until the release of the D3–at which time I quickly acquired a D3 (with the kind assistance of Nikon Professional Services) and have been very pleased with its performance.
I have several Nikkor lenses–including a 24-70mm f/2.8, a 70-200mm f/2.8, and a 105mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor. I have an SB800 Speedlight. I have a Light Cube for product photography.
I own a technology business. I sell and service computers, create and maintain Web sites, and provide Internet access. I am also a Federally-licensed firearms dealer. I am married to a wonderful lady, Laura, who is the executive assistant to the owner of Sierra Nevada. She is also an avid photographer.
